sick as a dog...but my lab next to me is perfectly fine, so sick as something else
wanted to update briefly, since it's almost been a MONTH since I last did such a thing
Here we go at 50 miles an hour
Jan. 17-19
Winter Retreat with high school youth group (kids with church families, Daddy wanting to call more than Mommy)
Jan 31-Feb. 7
Roadtrip (ultimately to KC for Heather's Grandma's 90th bday party):
1) Flint to Chicago (or NW of it) with Pastor Eldon's daughter and family (6 kids, Ben was in near-heaven with the boys especially!)...drove in sleet and slush but only in last miles
2) Chicago to Kansas City, MO- Grandma is the QUEEN and we love her...so good to see 40+ family and friends...Ben rocked out at the Superbowl halftime show (Tom Petty in case you missed it) with his cousin Sydney's guitar, Susanna was adored by all...heard reports of KC getting pounded, dry when we arrived!
3) KC to Wichita- stayed with beloved friends the Hershbergers...once again great fellowship for adults and kids (they have two 4 and 2)...70* on Mon, hail on Tues (typical Kansas!)
4) Wichita to St. Louis- well, not quite. Pouring rain and slippery conditions had us pull off earlier than expected. God's providence: later found out tornado warnings elsewhere, this was the night the south got hit badly...also stayed in a suite with a jacuzzi...laughed as two kids who had been cooped up for 6+ hours ran/crawled and giggled, then Ben splashed in the big tub- totally worth the extra bucks...
5)St. Louis to Indianapolis- stayed with beloved friends the Kolsteads...two kids 20 months and 2 months...not much sleep for any adult, unfortunately! I think the Norrises were the bulk of the commotion...windy through the night, fine in the morning
6) Indy to Flint- heard Flint got pounded with over 12 inches in one night...freeways backed up...got home in afternoon and things were clear (except surface streets...love seeing those tax dollars at work in Michigan!)
Overall, kids travelled well! Pics to come....good night from the sickie!
